Want a hug?

Friday January 15th, 2010.

The baggage claim at O’Hare airport in Chicago.

That’s when we hugged for the first time.

And it changed both our lives.

Yes, because it was the physical connection of two souls who had been searching.

Yes, because it was rich in a romantic verve that needed no words.

But mostly, because we finally felt at home.

Both of us.

It’s that feeling you get where you know that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Even when the comfort and peace you feel is stemming from a relative stranger.

You just know.

For us, showcasing our material worth online is a shallow effort to provoke your envy.

Spitting combative and contentious words is a narcissistic ploy to incite a divided world.

We just want to bring you into the hug.

However whimsical or idealistic as that may sound.

It’s who we are.

We love with more ease than we hate.

We value people above materialism.

And we’re never afraid to say that we’ve been there.

Deep in a hole.

Emotionally gutted.

Lacking clarity and worth.

Desperate to be seen and heard.

The hug changed everything for us.

And we’re happy to share it with you.

Brian & Carrie
